OpenSwarm co-organised the Swarm Workshop on 26-27 November 2025
The Swarm Workshop is a 2-days event taking place in Brussels on 26-27 November 2025. Co-organised by the projects TaRDIS, OASEES, P2CODE, SmartEdge, and OpenSwarm – all funded by the European Commission under the HORIZON-CL4-2022-DATA-01-03 call – this 2-day open event gathered private and public organisations.
Participants explored the future of collaborative, data-driven swarm systems and their transformative potential, together with related research domains, such as artificial intelligence, ICT security and connectivity, interoperability, open source and ICT standardisation.
Key takeaways:
🔹 Filip Maksimovic (INRIA) shared OpenSwarm’s vision to revolutionize low-power wireless and robot swarms through distributed AI, energy-aware swarm programming, and groundbreaking R&I.
🔹 Geovane Fedrecheski (INRIA) showcased the project’s testbed for coordinating 1,000+ robots: low-cost, fast (1 m/s), and fully controllable from a single workstation, with indoor localization, rapid charging, and remote reprogramming.
🔹 Wei Wei (IMEC) presented work on flexible feature-level fusion using Graph Attention Networks for wireless acoustic sensors.
🔹 Malisa Vucinic (INRIA) highlighted the consortium contributions to the IETF’s LAKE working group, including EDHOC protocol development, zero-touch network joining, and remote attestation, bridging research and innovation.
🔹 Finally, Danny Hughes (KUL) discussed advancements in fully autonomous multi-robot systems, pushing the boundaries of swarm intelligence.
Last but not least, the workshop also featured live demos of our five Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and testbeds, illustrating how swarm technologies can transform:
✅ Smart factories
✅ Mobility & logistics
✅ Energy management
✅ Environmental & infrastructure monitoring
