2nd International Workshop on MetaOS for the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum

OpenSwarm engineer Luiz Sampaio (Analog Devices) was in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to participate in the 2nd International Workshop on MetaOS for the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum (MECC 2025, 31 March 2025).

The workshop aims at providing an overview of the opportunities and critical issues brought by a MetaOS orchestrating the Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystem, particularly focusing on its deployment to optimize AI processes computational needs. Through a series of technical presentations, interactive sessions, and panel discussions, this workshop addresses critical issues such as interoperability, standardization, and contribution to relevant open-source projects. Participants have the opportunity to exchange ideas, share research findings, and collaborate on innovative solutions to advance the field of MetaOS.

Luiz Sampaio presented the paper “Porting A Real-Time Operating System for Embedded IoT Devices to Linux as Part of the OpenSwarm Project”. This paper introduces the port of 𝜇C/OS-II to Linux, enabling quick prototyping of RTOS applications on a controlled environment without the need to continuously reflash microcontrollers to test and debug. Additionally, it allows applications to leverage existing tools in a Linux environment.
